Got a problem? We've got the solution!
We believe that a healthy soil is the foundation for a profitable and sustainable agricultural production, and our team of experts is dedicated to helping you achieve optimal soil health and productivity.
We offer a wide range of services to help farmers and growers achieve optimal soil health and productivity.
Our services include:
Soil Biological Assessments
Biological assessments define the ecological health of a soil, an ideal tool for measuring the impacts to biological populations under current and past soil management practices. We measure biological populations, diversity and ratios of species such as bacteria, fungi, protozoa, nematodes, macro-micro arthropods and ratio of humic to fulvic carbon present.
A biological assessment determines what corrective actions would be required in restoring natural soil health and prosperity.
Soil Chemistry Testing
Chemistry testing is vitally important. Western Australia has some of oldest soils on earth, largely acidic, rich in aluminium and iron and practically devoid of precious carbon. The overuse of nutrients, fertilisers, herbicides, and pesticides is commonplace in most farming systems - often leading to a locking out effect, also referred to as antagonisms.
Antagonisms occur when an excess of one input restricts the uptake of another, creating an induced deficiency rendering the nutrients insoluble or unavailable. Chemistry testing helps us understand the availability and total levels of all essential macro and micronutrients, pH, Total Carbon, Total Organic Matter, and Hydrogen present in the soil.
An ideal test in determining if antagonisms are present.
Customised Soil Programs
Understanding the dynamics of your soil is key to developing any sustainable growing system. Our team works with landholders to develop and implement programs that address their unique soil health needs.
Assessing current soil tests, management practices, inputs, and issues arising from existing programs provides our team with valuable, accurate, and valid data - essential components in the planning, design, and implementation of our programs.
Soil Health Consultation
Soil is a living system. Its health directly affects crop yield, quality, and resilience. Poor soil management can lead to nutrient depletion, reduced water retention, increased pests and disease pressure, and a loss of valuable carbon.
Our team provides expert advice and services aimed at restoring soil health. Analysing soil conditions and on-farm management techniques allows our team to identify limitations and recommend tailored solutions.
Introducing new farming practices can often seem challenging. Our team can provide training and guidance on how to implement these practices effectively. Some practices may include biological brews, multispecies cover cropping, crop rotation, minimum tillage, and erosion control measures.
Tree Preservation Programs
Bio Soil Solutions has been at the forefront in the restoration of declining trees. Our holistic approach to tree preservation has been proven on many significant and historic trees throughout Western Australia.
Our methods of restoring natural biodiversity within the soil has proven to increase tree immunity, vigour and health - providing protection from primary abiotic stress and secondary biotic diseases.
Primary causes of tree decline are referred to as an abiotic stress, and are typically caused by root disturbance and/or compaction, overuse of synthetic fertilisers, excess watering, herbicide residual and climatic stress. Secondary causes of tree decline are referred to as biotic stress, and are typically caused by insects such as borer, beetles and pathogens like fungi, bacteria and nematodes. Most species are opportunistic, and target trees when they're weakened or have compromised immune systems.
Research and Development
Bio Soil Solutions conducts regular trials throughout many industries. This research aids in the development of new techniques and inputs designed to improve soil and plant health. Our onsite lab and external partnerships ensure that we stay on top of the latest scientific advancements and best practices to bring you the most effective soil solutions.
